It's STRAWBERRY time!

-Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

"This special feeling towards fruit, its glory and abundance, is I would say universal.... We respond to strawberry fields or cherry orchards with a delight that a cabbage patch or even an elegant vegetable garden cannot provoke."
-Jane Grigson

ART on Etsy

If you are anything like me, might think you can't afford REAL art.  You know, the kind you see in museums, in magazines and in those gorgeous homes near and far.

Well, you are in for a surprise if you browse around Etsy.  Etsy is a marketplace for vintage and handmade things.  If you browse for "original" pieces or prints you can find so many beautiful pieces.  Not to mention, most are sold at a fraction of what you might pay at an expensive gallery or home store.

There are:

Pink Snowy Owl Prints via BlackCottageHandmade

Garden Print of Watercolor via Amber Alexander

And ALL those beautiful pieces of art are all under $40!  Isn't that amazing!  There are so many talented artists out there.

Etsy is fun because you can find artists selling their things from all over the world!

So, go ahead, and browse Etsy when you are looking for something to hang on your wall.  It is also fun to support people who are doing what they love.

the "uh-uh" stage

uh-uh
interj. Informal
Used to express disagreement or an answer in the negative

"uh-uh" was just proudly uttered from her mouth when I asked her NOT to play on the stairs

We have hit the uh-uh stage in our house.  This stage is also more commonly known as the "no" stage.  It is the stage when a young child answers "no" to everything -- or in our house the young child answers "uh-uh."

Our little one is not very verbal and uses a lot of grunting, screeching and sign language to communicate with everyone.  Recently, she has begun to answer "uh-uh" to everything.  This is most definitely her "no" stage.

With my second child, I have found this stage quite hilarious.  My girl answers "uh-uh" to everything without even a thought.  Now, with my first one, I wasn't as amused by this negative verbal stage and was happy when it ceased.

For now, I just have to laugh at our conversations throughout the day.  I am so proud that she has found a new way to communicate with us.

Common conversations with her sounds a little like this:

Momma: "Do you want to go outside?"
Little one: "Uh-uh."
Momma: "Ok, we will just stay inside and play."
little one then goes to the door and cries to go outside

Momma: "Do you want to sit in your sister's carseat while she is away at school?"
Little one: "Uh-uh."
Momma: "Let's get you buckled into your seat."
little one cries and runs to the other side of the car and wildly climbs into her sister's carseat.

Filling the big shoes

Whenever I turn around these days, I seem to always find my little one slopping around the house in her big sister's shoes.  Often, she falls as she tries to walk in shoes that are twice her size.  She gets frustrated, but only momentarily, because the sheer delight of walking around in big shoes is far more important than a little fall.

On a side note:  I just noticed as I was putting the photos together that my little one not wearing pants in any of the photos.  I have to laugh at the way things change with second children.  With my first, she never walked around half clothed...never.  But with my second, she spends her mornings in a diaper until we have to leave the house.  My how we change when our hands become full!

Spring!

"Then the clouds part,
Swallow soaring between;
The spring is alive,
And the meadows are green!

I jump up, like mad..."
-Edward Fitzgerald-

Go ahead, jump up.
Spring is here!

Happy Spring!

Our little mouse...

It seems we have a mouse in our house!

This mouse seems to stir after the sun has set.
It creeps around and often finds a stair to curl up on --
a place to listen and watch.

Tonight our little mouse toyed with the handle on our bedroom door
for many minutes before we noticed.
Our doorknob mysteriously moved up and down very slowly and methodically.

This little mouse creeps around everywhere we seem to be.
It is ever-so-quiet and often we don't notice.
Until...

It softly peeps:
"Mommy, Daddy, can you tuck me in?"
