three for easter

This year there were three of you.  

Six little hands enjoyed picking up eggs.  Three baskets from the bunny were found around the house. 

Four hands enjoyed dunking eggs in dye.  Four little feet scrambled to be the first to find eggs at the church hunt.  Dozens of wildflowers were picked for the sick sisters.  One carrot, two hard-boiled eggs and a basket of empty (expected-to-be-filled) eggs were left for Mr. Bunny on the back porch.  One hand-written note was carefully written to the bunny.  Two smocked dresses and one baby in bloomers and an eyelet top were donned on Easter morning.  

It was a glorious morning, indeed!

Little bits of spring found their way to my doorstep this afternoon...

Yes, handfuls of spring are here..

Spring is here!

We can't seem to get enough of the flowers blooming everywhere!  Everything is so green.  I hope it lasts for a few more weeks so we can revel in the glory of this budding season!

Ringing doorbells, leaving goodies and dashing away {while we were booing neighbors} peeked the interest of my big girl.  

The other day, she asked me to wait at the doorway while she busied herself in the yard.  As I waited, she tore through the yard gathering little leaves and flowers.  When she peeked back at me she asked that I close the door and wait for the doorbell to ring.  When it rang and I opened the door, a sweet little bouquet awaited me on the front step while she hurried around the pillar. 

Oh, what fun it is to leave little surprises for unsuspecting folks {or Momma}!

"Daddy, I picked these for you!  You know, the poky ones with purple flowers...where the honey bees live?"

"Smell them!  I added some leaves {basil} from out back so they smell good too."

In Awe...

As I walk through the yard on this misty and somewhat dreary Earth Day, I am awe-struck at the beauty around me.

This Oxsalis was a favorite of mine as a child.  I was always captivated by the delicate pink flowers and the large clover leaves.

Then, I noticed the bright and almost neon color to the tips of the purple iris.  I am amazed at the color.

These iris are so special because they grew in my Grandmother's yard some 60 years ago.  When she passed, we dug up some of the bulbs and transplanted them in my own yard.  Each year, I am reminded of her when they bloom.  Funny enough, this year they began blooming on her very birthday.
